Weight Watcher Core Plan – Do the Weight Watcher Core Plan and Weight Watcher Core Recipes Work?
Mar 24th
The Weight Watcher’s program introduced the Weight Watcher Core Plan as an alternative to its Point System/Flex plan. The basic idea was to offer dieters a different method, one that did not rely upon constantly counting weight watcher points. Rather it is based around only eating core foods, and attempting to use Weight Watcher Core Recipe’s as its base, and portion control as its method. The question these plans work?
Firstly for those who are not familiar with Weight Watchers Flex Plan, it is based upon a flexible system in which foods are valued with a Weight Watcher Point. Each participant in the Weight Watcher Program is evaluated and they are allotted a certain amount of points for the week that they must stick to in order to reach their target weight. Several tools such as Weight Watcher Point Calculator, Weight Watcher Etools, Weight Watcher Meetings etc are all incorporated to make one of the more successful commercial weight loss systems around (to find out more about Weight Watchers refer to the site linked below).
Now as mentioned about the Weight Watcher Core Plan is the alternative method to the Flex Plan. Instead of constantly calculating your points with the Weight Watcher Point System (formulas, calculators, log books etc), the dieter simply sticks to the Weight Watcher Core Food Lists, and Weight Watcher Core Recipe’s. This is a less intense method, and may not always be as effective. However if it is adhered to, and accompanied by exercise it will certainly show results.
One of the main issues to consider with the Weight Watchers Core Plan is that you do not have the variety of food options that you may with the Weight Watcher Flex Plan (in which no foods are banned). That said, the Weight Watcher Core Food List does no include all bland tasting foods that have the potential to bore the dieter (includes such options as vegetables, soups, lean meats, poultry, fish etc). Furthermore there are extensive Weight Watcher Core Recipe’s available based around the core plan (for more details about Core Foods and Recipes see the site linked below).
Therefore in concluding the Weight Watcher Core Plan is certainly a viable option for prospective dieters, and whether or not you go with the Flex Plan or Core Plan will depend upon your individual personality and situation.
Diet tips for the sensible dieter who wants to succeed – Part 2
May 24th
I am a person who hates diets! I feel trapped and cheated if I have to follow a specific diet plan. One bad day on a traditional diet, and I want to throw in the towel and toss my diet out the window!
Last spring, after looking at some pictures of myself, I decided that I needed to lose some weight. Because I hate traditional diets, I wanted a system that was easy to follow, did not involve counting calories or carbohydrates, and was very successful!
So, by comparing a whole lot of different diet plans and programs, I came up with a diet plan that was very successful for not only me, but my husband as well. Both of us lost 30 pounds in 5 months – and were able to keep the weight off! This system is more about changing HABITS than following a certain program.
1. Motivation
What is motivating you to lose weight? Are you trying to drop a few pounds to fit into that dress for your cousin’s wedding? Maybe you saw some old “skinny pictures” of yourself and you want to look like that again. If it is a photo that is motivating you, tape it to the door of your refrigerator so you are reminded of your goal every time you open that door! It is very important that you have a motivating factor in your journey of weight loss if you are going to be successful!
2. Set reasonable goals.
Set small goals for yourself – they can be weekly goals or monthly goals, but make sure they are reasonable, very attainable goals! Most people lose about 1-2 pounds a week, maybe more, maybe less. You are not going to lose 10 pounds a week! If you set your goals too high and cannot reach them, you will be very disappointed and you’ll probably give up! Just remember, you are not going to lose any weight if you give up, so keep it reasonable!
3. The eating plan: Moderation, portion control, and healthy choices!
In my humble opinion, any diet that forbids you to eat any one thing, whether it is carbohydrates, fat, dairy or meat, is NOT a healthy diet! Yes, you should eat more fruits and vegetables than fatty foods or high-carb foods, but you should not cut any one of these things completely out of your diet. You must learn to control your portions and make healthier choices when you sit down to eat. Moderation is the key!
Here are a few tips for healthy eating:
- Put your dinner on a salad plate instead of a dinner plate for better portion control.
- Use olive oil or coconut oil in place of vegetable (or any other) oil.
- Choose the healthier whole

Healthy Dieting – The Ups And Downs Of The Yo-Yo Diet

Very Real Dangers Of Dieting and the Yo-Yo Diet Effect
We all need to pursue a healthy lifestyle and of course a healthy lifestyle includes a healthy diet. That may be stating the obvious but people adjust their diet for many different reasons and those reasons do not always relate to health.
We all know that diets can be unhealthy. Indeed, taken to the extreme they can be downright dangerous. Even if you engage in what you may regards as a healthy diet the danger still remains that you can be off a diet and on a diet. This syndrome is known as “yo-yo dieting”.
Following one unsuccessful diet after another leads to, at the very least, a loss of self-esteem and a feeling of failure. These negative emotions can develop into a depressive emotional state. This is partly due to the change in eating habits but moreover it is to do with the continued experience of failure due not achieving eight loss goals.
The Cycle of “Lose it Gain It”
Fad diets are of no use whatsoever. Weight lost is very soon regained and the never-ending circle of the dieter’s treadmill begins all over. Most people who go on a specific diet fail to realise that the most important thing is not a diet change but a lifestyle change. They need to change their whole outlook to life in general and to food in particular. A life style change is the only way to pursue a healthy dieting regime. This is the sole way of eliminating fad, yo-yo dieting from your life once and for all. A healthy lifestyle-eating plan will eliminate the fad diet and set you at liberty to follow the healthy diet.
People seem to jump in and out of diets at a whim and the concept of healthy dieting is ignored totally. Even people who are not overweight go on diets for some unknown reason. When one person loses a little weight on a diet everyone around that person wants to try the same diet. They will stick with this diet for a couple days or a week and then go back to normal eating and behaviours until the next diet comes around. Some people start a new diet every Monday only to be off the diet by Tuesday or Wednesday. The problem with this crazy way of eating is that there are some very real dangers of dieting and the different fad diets that become popular.
Frequent Weight Changes Due to Unhealthy Diet
A constant and dramatic change in body weight can, over a period of time effect the health of the bodies regular functions, the major body organs, such as the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys, are susceptible to these constant alterations to the metabolism. Constant and dramatic changes in body make up can adversely affect the function of the organs. Indeed, it is probably better to remain a little overweight but remain constant than to be forever losing and then gaining body fat. This is not a healthy diet.
The Danger of Malnutrition While Dieting
Obviously the body does not want to find itself malnourished. Yet this is exactly what most dieters are doing to themselves while they are dieting in an unhealthy manner. They seek inadvertently to cut out the very foods that the body needs to function effectively. To totally eliminate all fats from the diet is not sensible. In the same vein we need carbohydrates; the very thing that some diets seek to eradicate completely. Following a diet like this is not healthy dieting at all.
The Healthy Diet and Eating Disorders
Anorexia and bulimia are the Bain of modern society and the scourge dieters in the west. These two, avoidable and life threatening conditions are modern phenomena and are due to our unhealthy fascination with looks and the attraction of the cult of celebrity.
This psychological disorder will not be helped in any way by dieting but requires counselling and psychological intervention. Without help people with these dangerous dieting disorders can face serious health issues including death.
Dieting can be dangerous and needs to be taken seriously. Fad diets should be avoided and people with serious weight issues should seek medical help. Successful weight loss will only occur with serious commitment and life style changes.
